In May 2025, Professor Yu Weidong participated in the 2025 Africa Blue Economy Science Conference and the of the IOC Sub-Commission for Africa and Adjacent Island States （IOC-Africa） held in Mombasa, Kenya. He engaged in in-depth discussions with African scholars and the IOC-Africa Secretariat on implementing the Ocean Decade Africa Roadmap, joint observation surveys, and capacity-building initiatives. These efforts not only strengthened the collaboration between DCC-OCC and African partners but also deepened DCC-OCC’s partnership with IOC.
