DCC-OCC Delegation Visited China Oceanic Development Foundation

On May 15, 2024, researcher QIAO Fangli, Director of the UN Decade Collaborative Center on Ocean-Climate Nexus and Coordination Amongst Decade Implementing Partners in P.R.China (DCC-OCC), led a visit to the China Oceanic Development Foundation (CODF) and discussed with PAN Xinchun, Vice President and Secretary General of CODF. WANG Min, Deputy Secretary General and Director of Finance Department, Li Yan, Deputy Director of Maritime Silk Road Department, and LI Xuefeng, Project Director were also attending the meeting.

Throughout the meeting, Dr. GUAN Song, the Senior Project Officer of DCC-OCC, provided an overview of the Centre's operations and highlighted recent accomplishments supported by CODF. Dr. GUAN also outlined future initiatives and plans for DCC-OCC. Mr. PAN praised the achievements made by DCC-OCC since its inception, emphasizing its pivotal role in advancing China's ocean affairs. He stressed the importance of aligning DCC-OCC's efforts with development goals, promoting its products globally, and enhancing international cooperation networks. Additionally, Mr. PAN reiterated CODF's commitment to supporting DCC-OCC's endeavors and collaborating to amplify its impact in ocean-related matters. Dr. QIAO Fangli expressed gratitude towards CODF for its support and engaged in discussions with Mr. PAN regarding potential cooperation areas such as marine spatial planning, nuclear pollution prediction, and typhoon forecasting.

The meeting served as a solid foundation for deepening cooperation between the two organizations. It is expected to foster greater multi-stakeholder engagement in the Ocean Decade and facilitate the expansion of DCC-OCC's cooperation network.
