On May 14, a delegation from the Decade Collaborative Center on Ocean-Climate Nexus and Coordination Amongst Decade Implementing Partners in P.R. China (DCC-OCC) visited the Tianjin National Maritime Museum of China, engaging in a lively and insightful discussion with Deputy Director-general LIU Jie and other museum representatives.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the successful experience and achievements of jointly hosting the “A Cultural Exhibition of Chinese Nautical Technology: Against the wind and waves, across the immense ocean, for countless miles” in Spain. They deemed it as a highly fruitful collaboration, noting its significant impact in not only garnering enthusiastic responses from the local Spanish populace but also in promoting Chinese maritime culture internationally. Additionally, they highlighted the groundbreaking establishment of exchange and collaboration between the Tianjin National Maritime Museum of China and the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, enriching international cooperation practices. Furthermore, they mutually expressed their intention to continue and expand cooperation, delving deeper into future collaboration areas, reaching preliminary consensus on cooperation in initiatives such as the Ocean Decade on Campus Alliance, international cooperation among museums, and the creation of Ocean Decade column and exhibition at the Tianjin National Maritime Museum.
Subsequently, the DCC-OCC delegation toured the Museum, immersing themselves in the museum's rich maritime culture and scientific knowledge exhibits. During the visit, delegation members engaged in cordial interactions with museum staff, gaining insights into the curation work and stories behind the exhibits.
This visit has laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two parties, further advancing the implementation of the Ocean Decade, promoting international exchanges in Chinese maritime culture, and enhancing public ocean literacy.
