On December 6th, 2022, the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) (Ocean Decade) Decade Collaborative Centre on Ocean-Climate Nexus and Coordination Amongst Decade Implementing Partners in P. R. China (DCC-OCC) and the Decade Programme of Observing Air-Sea Interactions Strategy (OASIS) held the first meeting. The representatives of the OASIS, who are co-chairs Meghan Cronin and Christa Marandino, as well as Sebastiaan Swart (professor of Physical Oceanography at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden), Nicholas Rome (senior program manager of Ocean Observing Programs in the Center for Ocean Leadership at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research) and Meredith Kurz (program analyst of National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration), and the staff from DCC-OCC attended the meeting.

In the beginning, Prof. Yu Weidong introduced in detail the background of DCC-OCC, its main functions and recent work progress, and actively proposed potential areas and matters of cooperation with OASIS. Then Meghan Cronin introduced the establishment background of OASIS, their three Grand Ideas, and the five theme teams.

During the discussion session, Nicholas Rome congratulated the DCC-OCC on its establishment and expressed his admiration that the DCC-OCC was able to develop quickly in such a short period of time. OASIS responded positively and expressed its support for the cooperation in technology development, data platform, network construction and modeling. OASIS very much welcomes cooperation and exchange in the above areas. Prof. Yu Weidong expressed that DCC-OCC will fully support OASIS's activities in multiple fields such as climate, health, ocean, and ecosystem.

OASIS was endorsed as the Ocean Decade Programme in June 2021, which focuses on providing observational-based knowledge to fundamentally improve weather, climate and ocean prediction, promote healthy oceans, the blue economy, and sustainable food and energy.
