On 27 April 2023, the 2023 Annual Symposium on Deep Sea Research in the South China Sea was held at Tongji University, co-organized by the South China Sea Deep Programme, the International Ocean Discovery Programme （IODP-China） and the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology of Tongji University. The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development （2021-2030） （Ocean Decade） Decade Collaborative Centre （DCC-OCC） participated in the symposium and the poster exhibition.

The International Ocean Discovery Programme （IODP） was endorsed as an Ocean Decade Contribution on 8 June 2021 according to the first Call for Decade Actions. IODP is coordinated by the DCC-OCC under the authorization of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.

During the poster session, DCC-OCC’s poster attracted the attention of many participants with its unique content, which played a role of enhancing peer understanding and communications of the Ocean Decade. Lots of people expressed their strong interest in the Ocean Decade and DCC-OCC, and hoped to be involved in the Decade Actions to realize the goal of “The Science We Need for the Ocean We Want".
